Compliance and refrigerant rules
Air conditioning is one of the more heavily regulated product categories, and the rules differ by destination:
- Energy efficiency labelling — EU energy label and ecodesign requirements, or DOE and ENERGY STAR in the US
- Refrigerant regulations — F-gas rules in the EU, EPA SNAP requirements in the US. The refrigerant type determines whether your shipment is even importable.
- CE marking and EMC compliance for the European market
- Electrical safety certification appropriate to the destination
Handling and freight
Air conditioners are heavy, contain pressurised refrigerant, and are easily damaged in transit. We specify export packaging that survives consolidation, stack and secure them properly in the container, and handle the paperwork for units containing refrigerant or classified as dangerous goods.
Because these units are dense and heavy, container payload — not volume — is usually the limiting factor. We calculate this before you book, so the freight quote you get is the freight cost you pay.
